How to Avoid Being Scammed ?

Today I want to look at scamming and how we can avoid being scammed. According to Google, a scam is a deceptive scheme or trick used to cheat someone out of something. Especially money. Scamming has become very popular in today's Social world. There are many persons who use scamming as a profession, scammers, will reach out to you by phone calls, telling you that you have won large sums of money, or you have won a trip, but in order for you to access this money, you need to pay them money. Never send money to anyone telling you that in order for you to get money you won,, you must send them money.

This is not real. If you're not sure, always make sure that you tell someone what is happening as the scammers, will keep playing on your emotions. If you send them money they will keep making up another story to get more money from you. Also. If you have never entered a competition, how is it that you are going to get money? No one gives away free money. Be very careful. There are also other types of scammers in that they will call you stating that they're from the IRS or Canada Revenue. And they will tell you that something is wrong with your taxes and that you need to give them your social security number in order to fix it. Please never give out your personal information over the phone, Canada revenue, or the IRS will never call you.Hang up immediately, do not even enter into any dialogue with these callers

If you're unsure, once again, hang up the phone and then make sure to call the IRS or Canada Revenue yourself. Personally, another thing to note is that these scammers will sometime give you personal numbers. Please never call any number that a scammer gives you because normally scammers work in groups. So if you call the number given, chances are the number that you call is another scammer and they're all working together.

They will also call you from the bank stating that something is wrong with your credit card or your bank account. And in order for them to fix it you must give them your banking information. Never ever give out any personal information from anyone calling from the bank. Hang up the phone and call your bank and speak with someone if you need to verify this information but your bank will never call and ask for your information over the phone unless you are the one who called them.

Even if they can quote your account number to you just, hang up the phone. And then you can call your bank or you can personally go into your bank. They're also very good at sending you text messages or email messages with parts of your account number, telling you that something is wrong with your account. And so in order for them to fix it, you need to click on the link, never click on any link. As these scammers, are very skillful , when it comes to the computer. And if you click on a link, normally they can access all of your information. Chances are they have set up fake pages and these fake pages look very real. Scammers will also reach out to you on social media, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, to name a few, and they will reach out to you saying hi or hello.

They will start up a conversation trying to get personal information out of you. Be very careful of the scammers who are on social media or on YouTube, promising you, that you can make large sums of money.

They will tell you that they can double your money in Bitcoin or other types of investment. what they do is they set up fake pages. These Youtube Gurus will tell you that they will double your money. then they show you fake pictures of people whose money they have doubled. Never fall into this trap. Even as glamorous as it seem, it is not real. These are scammers. Protect your money. Let us all work together to bring awareness to scamming.

They are even scammers that turn up at your doorstep, telling you that they have a company and they can fix your roof, or do odd jobs for half of the price that you would normally pay. They have business cards that look real. Normally they want you to pay in cash, and they will start the work. And then halfway through they will, leave the work, or if they do the work, they don't do it correctly.Once you have paid them the number on their business card does not work and they disappear with your cash and the work is undone or not done properly .

Please share if you think there is someone who needs to hear this.If you know someone who has been scammed encouraged them to reach out to authorities. Leave your comments below as I would like to hear your thoughts

I find it a bit odd that in our day and age there are still so many people that fall victims to obvious scams. We should all be well informed (at least about the more known scams) and be able to avoid them. I think we should be teaching this in schools: how to avoid being scammed. Online security should not be taken lightly and we should all know about the ways and tools we can use to be well informed and prepared to react. We should also know who to contact to report these scams so the right authorities can investigate.

Never believe some caller 100% when they say you've won something or that they represent who knows which company or IRS. Always call those entities yourself, on their official phone numbers. I've had dealings with scammers but would always listen to what they've said and then after I talked with them, I would go and check and see it was all a scam.

I believe in living life in a simple yet fulfilling stratosphere. Simple doesn't mean denying yourself  of all the great things that life has to offer. Life was meant to be lived on your own terms and not  on someone else's. It is about you.
