What is Love? Isn’t it a head-scratcher? It has been a topic of discussion among scientists, poets, artists, philosophers, and others. They tried to define it, and no one has been able to put it under one definition. Simple put Love means many different things to different people
Love is an abstract idea and is subjective. But suppose we try to give it a basic definition. In that case, it might be a set of emotions and behaviours inclusive of positive feelings such as happiness, protectiveness, care, attraction, affection, and trust. It is an amalgamation of many emotions that love brings. It also brings negative emotions as well, like jealously, stress, tension, sadness, among other things. We can say it is one of the most substantial feelings that could leave a significant negative and positive impact. It is up to a person how they perceive it.
Considering it is “as the unselfish act,” people cannot help but fall in love. But if somebody gets obsessed with it, it can lead a person to go insane as well as put some’s life in danger. You cannot dictate the terms. You could fall in love with the people you hate. It has no boundaries, no territory, or cannot be imprisoned. It doesn’t see race or ethnicity
Why is Love Important for Human Survival?

We often say that we are feeling lonely but yet we don’t want to be with with people. And it brings psychological discomfort in some way or another. Do you know why?
It is due to the absence of belongingness. The need to belong is an ideology that motivates people and fosters growth overtime. The need to belong is not only a sociological concept but a fact for human survival. It means that humans ought to establish relations with like-minded people or people in which they feel a sense of belongingness.
The Background of the Need to Belong
How do humans come to know of such necessity? As we all know, humans are the most challenging creatures to analyze. Psychologists study for years to explore different characteristics of a human’s personality. The psychological history of belongingness developed overtime. Sigmund Freud was among one of the psychologists who emphasized the recognition of the need itself. It stated that humans are inclined towards any relationship based on their sex drive. Another psychologist John Bowlby, conducted different experiments to conclude that the need to belong is a unique and significant part of human life. His attachment theory states that a person’s early relationships lay the foundation for future relationships and how he or she will react to people’s feelings.
Due to this reason, when a person has a scarring childhood, he may not be able to form lasting and trusting relationships in the future.
The need to belong comes from ancestral history. Earlier, the hunter-gatherers or scavengers used to move in groups rather than alone. It helped them to survive efficiently and against life-threatening situations. The basic idea lies in the individuality of each person. Each person is different and possesses a different set of skills and ideas.
People with similar ideologies form communities that help them grow, where they can have their difference of opinion while appreciating others.
Significance of the Need to Belong:
The way to understand the significance of belongingness is to see what happens when the need is unmet. Many researchers have conducted social experiments to observe what happens to a person when he is alone, pretty much the same as what happens when you do not get food or water.
The research shows that there is a cognitive need to be fulfilled. It is an essential component of the mind. Secondly, emotions shape a person’s ideologies. Let us illustrate an example,
If you are left or excluded from a college group or a group you used to hang out with, you would feel an array of negative emotions. Even a child left alone starts to cry the minute he is left alone. A sense of belonging is of paramount importance in one’s life. The struggle with loneliness and able to not fit in can distort someone’s personality. Living simple is not complex. The first step is to change your mindset. If you are someone who has a lot of stuff or who likes to hoard, then you must start cleaning or giving away things that you have not used in months. Do you need 1000 shoes, handbags or anything else. This has to be a gradual step and will not happen over night. Remove all useless items.
Set a plan
If you are not accustom to living simple you must be patient as you begin to clear out your items. If you are someone attached to materials things it will be hard at first, but you must remain focus on task and keep in mind the goal. In the process of down sizing you must eliminate all unnecessary spending. No you do not need the latest iphone, or the latest fashion. Your bank account will thank you. Get rid of credit cards with huge interest. If you are driving a car with a high car loan then you want to buy a cheaper car loan
Living simple increases your life in so many positive ways. You do not feel the need to pretend that you need to try and keep up with anyone else. Buy only what you need. Don't buy food that you will eat or consume or items that you have no intentions of using. If you are in a house with a huge mortgage and rental. Find a simplier solution. The tiny house movement have taken off because people because people were looking for a simplier lifestyle.You do not need to have society dictates what and how your life should be.Do you really need Cable T.V or Netflicks? Why stress yourself to acquire things you do not need or will never have use for.
